Gokaiger Legends

All returning legends and characters in Gokaiger in order of series.

Super Sentai Legends, or simply Legends, is a term used to refer to members of the first 34 Super Sentai teams that sacrificed their powers to destroy the Zangyack invasion during the Great Legend War and later appear in the Gokaiger TV series, specials and movies.

Typically they appear untransformed. However, images of their ranger forms are overlaid on them in a crucial moment in the episode, usually during the episode's resolution. Although a few of them have fought alongside the Gokaigers transformed and untransformed.

From an in-universe perspective, every member of the 34 Sentai could be referred to as a Legend. However, this list only includes Legends who returned in Gokaiger as portrayed by their original actor (otherwise all Sentai Rangers would be included due to the Great Legend War).

History

Origins

Great Legend War

The Rangers engage Zangyack's forces.

When the Space Empire Zangyack attacked the Earth, they were countered by the first 34 Super Sentai teams in what was known as the Great Legend War. Countless ships bombarded cities while hundreds of Gormin troops led by their Zgormin commanders fought against the Sentai army. The Rangers, led by Tsuyoshi Kaijo aka Akarenger, put up a valiant fight but Kaijo soon noticed the fleet moving towards them. He gathered all the Rangers together and gave them the order to use their power to wipe out the first invasion's armada. Thus, the Earth's future was saved. But the Super Sentai warriors lost their powers, and became mere legends. The powers of the Rangers were harnessed in Ranger Keys which were spread throughout the universe. AkaRed

KSG-AkaRed

AkaRed.

Though the powers of the Sentai teams were gone, AkaRed, a hero that embodied that Red Warrior spirit who first appeared five years ago, returned. He became a space pirate and formed the Red Pirate Gang, with his teammates, Marvelous and Basco ta Jolokia, along with his robotic parrot, Navi. They searched the universe in the Gokai Galleon to find the Ranger Keys, which contained the powers of the 34 Sentai teams, which were dispersed all over the universe. The trio knew that with them, they could find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe.

AkaRed encountered Marvelous when he discovered the Akarenger Key after fighting Gormin. Marvelous refused to give it to him and fought AkaRed, who swiftly defeated Marvelous. Marvelous revealed to AkaRed that he wished to find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. AkaRed shown Marvelous his ship, the GokaiGalleon, telling him that he would never find the treasure if he gave up. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 16: Clash! Sentai vs. Sentai They went on to find many Ranger Keys, such as the Bouken Red Key. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 21: The Adventurer Heart They later met Basco ta Jolokia who joined them.

Since Basco didn't appear in the flashback in episode 21, it is presumed that he joined after Marvelous.

They eventually managed to find all the Ranger Keys (or so Basco and Marvelous thought), but Basco betrayed AkaRed and Marvelous. He was conspiring with Zangyack which attacked the ship, wanting the treasure all for himself. AkaRed saved Marvelous from the Zangyack forces and gave him the chest containing the Ranger Keys, telling him to find the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. AkaRed was last seen charging into dozens of Gormin Sailors.

Gokaigers

The 35th Super Sentai team, Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.

Marvelous, along with Navi, who gave him hints on how to find the treasure, encountered four other people and later founded the Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger. The Gokaigers searched for the treasure when Navi's hints led them to Earth, where it confirmed that it was the location of the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. Mahou Sentai Magiranger

When Kaizoku Sentai Gokaigers landed on Earth their guide Navi told them to find,"A man dressed in black". This man turned out to be none other than Kai, calling himself (depending on the sub), "A magician who has forgotten/lost his magic" and challenged Gokai Red and Gokai Green. With assistance from Heavenly Saint Flagel, Kai helped Gokai Green realize the "true power of the Magirangers", which turned out to be courage. He revealed to Marvelous that he could only gain the Greatest Treasure in the Universe once he unlocked the Greater Power of the other 33 Sentai teams. It's also alluded that he might've given GokaiOh the power to transform into Magi GokaiOh. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 3: Changing Courage into Magic

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger

Navi's latest fortune tells them to look towards police for their next clue to obtain the Greatest Treasure. With Captain Marvelous' sense of honor against all odds winning his trust, Kruger uncuffs the pirate (which had been placed there by Jasmine) and hands him back his Mobilate. By nightfall, Gokai Red rushes in and destroys the missile launching device in time before reuniting with his crew. Kruger tells the Gokaigers they can now summon the powers of the Dekarangers.

The next morning, the Gokaigers escort a wounded Kruger when they are cornered by a police barricade. However, Officer Banban Akaza suddenly appears and notifies the alleged acts of piracy by the Gokaigers were proven to be a hoax instigated by the Zangyack Empire. Though the pirates are free to go as he takes Kruger, Ban warns Captain Marvelous not to abuse the Dekarangers' powers with a promise of personally hunting him down with less mercy as Kruger shown to the pirate. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 5: Judgement Pirates

Juken Sentai Gekiranger

Navi told the Gokaigers to look for the "tiger's child." After the battle with Master Pachacamac XIII, Doc and Ahim meet with the traveling teacher, Jan Kandou, while he was teaching his students how to use the Juken fighting style. It wasn't until after they trained with him that they learned he was the "tiger's child" they were looking for, with one of Jan's students referring to him as GekiRed. He watched the giant monster battle and witnesses the Gokaigers utilizing the Gekirangers' full power.

Jan met with Master Sha-Fu who asked him if there was anymore he could have taught Don and Ahim. Jan tells him that they'll be fine as they understand that wanting to becoming stronger is a sign of being stronger already. He then goes off and says he has to train more so he can catch up with them. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 7: Niki-Niki! Kenpō Lesson

Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger

Navi told the Gokaigers to search for an island in the sky. They arrived on Animarium where they engaged Zangyack forces in battle, the conflict attracted the attention of Gao Lion who proceeded to knock everyone off the island. When the Gokaigers were about to get back up to Animarium they were warned by Kakeru Shishi (GaoRed) not to go and Captain Marvelous refused to take heed. Ahim, was wounded and Kakeru tended to her wounds in his office. The veterinarian revealed himself as Gao Red with Don pleading for his help with the vet explaining that only Gao Lion can unleash the Gaoranger Keys' power. At this time, they were contacted that their crew mates were fighting Action Commander Bowser and the Gormin. Kakeru watched the Gokaigers' fight and was astonished by the Gokaigers' saving people in their own way before they used the Gaoranger Keys to defeat the Sugormin with the Hyakujuuken before finishing Bowser with the Gokai Blast. When Bowser and the Sugormin were enlarged, GokaiOh's Gokai Star Burst was disabled. However, Gao Lion's acceptance enabled them to summon him from Animarium with the Gaoranger Keys as he and GokaiOh combined into Gao GokaiOh to take out the Sugormin before destroying Bowser. As Kakeru walked off, the pirates thanked their new ally as they sail off. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 9: Lion, Run

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger

When the Gokaigers appear searching for a samurai, Kaoru Shiba (Princess ShinkenRed) appeared and challenged them to retrieve the Shinkenger Ranger Keys, and Joe Gibken challenges her to allow the other Gokaigers to fight the Zangyack forces. Gokai Silver

Gai Ikari is an Earthling teenager and a self-professed Super Sentai fanboy. He was granted the Transformation Cellphone Gokai Cellular by the spirits of the three dead Sixth Rangers DragonRanger, TimeFire, and AbareKiller, all of whom possessed dinosaur themed mecha and were initially antagonistic to their team. This happened after he risked his life to save a young girl from a car accident.

After he was given his powers Gai recognized how similar his ranger form was to the Gokaigers and went searching for them, hoping to join their team. During this time he attempted to unlock the great powers of the Abaranger, Zyuranger and Timeranger. However, short of transforming himself into Gokai Silver, he couldn't unlock the great powers. Upon meeting the Gokaigers, he attempted to impress them and eventually succeeded by transforming and defeating the latest Action Commander. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 17: The Amazing Silver-Colored Man

Gai was later taken back to the GokaiGalleon and is questioned about his origin and the great powers in his possession. Gai then revealed that he has been unable to get the great powers to reveal themselves and that he would need the DragonRanger, TimeFire, and AbareKiller Ranger Keys to make them work. Marvelous then confiscated his Gokai Cellular and Gokai Silver Ranger Key until he could prove that he has something that Marvelous doesn't. He later impressed Marvelous by going into battle without his Gokai Silver powers. Unlike the Gokaigers, Gai wasn't out to find the Greaters Powers to obtain the Greatest Treasure in the Universe; he was out to save mankind and destroy the Zangyack, something Captain Marvelous found to be an interesting new concept. Marvelous accepted him and the Gokaigers accepted him, as a pirate apprentice. Tvicon TV STORY-Ep. 18: The Big Abare with the Dinosaur Robot Drill

During lunch time, the Gokai Galleon is suddenly shaken by the appearance of the GoZyu Drill, stationed outside. When Gai looks into it, he finds a Tomorrow Research badge which contains a hologram of Domon, the former TimeYellow. Showing it to his teammates, they find it is a holographic message left to them by Domon, charging the Gokaigers with going back in time to October 2, 2010 and protecting the Megakure Shrine, which had mysteriously exploded that day, in exchange for one of the Greater Powers. The Gokaigers are puzzled, since they already have the Timerangers' Grand Power, but accept the task nonetheless.

Arriving at the shrine in the past, they find a boy being accosted by many Strengthened Nanashi troopers, and make quick work of them. Ahim tells Gai to tend to the boy while the rest of the team goes off to find whoever could be the responsible for the explosion. Meanwhile, Gai talks to the boy, who had run away from home (though he insists he was "moving out"), because his mother, a freelance writer, is always moving, so he has no time to stay and make friends. Gai tells him that, like the boy, he too moved from city to city frequently because of his parents when he was a child, but nevertheless, he had a lot of friends because he always tried hard to make new friends at every place he arrived. Just then, Metal Alice of the Agent comes by, analyzing the Megakure Shrine and marking it for destruction, a task she assigns Zan-KT-0 of the Shot with. When the Gokaigers arrive, they all decide to use the Timerangers' powers to fight and defeat Zan-KT-0, much to the amazement of Metal Alice, who has no data on the Gokaigers. Before leaving, however, she enlarges Zan-KT-0 with her Bibi Bugs, and Gokai Silver offers to fight him alone in the GoZyu Drill. Zan-KT-0 is defeated when Gokai Silver uses the BullBlack key on the GoZyuJin for a new attack, the GoZyu Eidan.

Later on at the Megakure Shrine, the boy's mother arrives, apologizing for her son's behavior, and as she is revealed to be Honami Moriyama (the girlfriend Domon had left in the late 20th century), Don reminds Gai to take a picture of them at the shrine to prove their success, asking Honami and her son, Mirai, to join them. In the present, the gang is relieved to see that the temple made it through to November 2011, but suddenly everyone gets distressed when Navi reminds them of the Greater Power Domon had promised them, and they forgot to claim. As the Gokai Galleon flies over the temple, a jar is inside of it. In the year 3011, Domon enters the GoZyu Drill and finds a letter that Gai left on the cockpit for him. Domon reads the letter and then looks at the photograph. Initially upset that they interacted with people from the past (something they had orders not to do), he soon recognizes Honami in the picture and, concluding that the boy next to her is the son he never met, Domon sits alone at the cockpit, crying. The Gokaigers start wondering about the true intentions of Basco, who was put back on the wanted list for helping them against the Zangyack. Then, Gai went on with a tiny Christmas tree to remind them that Christmas is coming and he takes Luka to help him with the preparations. Gai and Luka stumble on a Santa Claus, accompanied by a panda. Luka gets excited at the thought of getting a present and approaches Santa. However he refuses, saying that he only gives presents to good kids, which angered Luka. Later, as Gai tried to calm her down, they find sister and brother Sayo and Seiji Kinoshita who are decorating a Christmas tree in the park with for group of children. Luka and Gai help out until Dyrandoh and Bibabu appear. Bibabu uses his magic wand to turn their targets into dolls. During the fight, both Seiji and Gai are turned into dolls, just as the other Gokaigers appear to fight Bibabu. While as the Kakurangers, they attempt to take Bibabu's wand and use a spell to turn everyone back to normal, but Dyrandoh joined the fray, and foiled their plans.

Later, as Sayo grew worried about her little brother and feeling guilty because they have been bickering a lot, Luka comforts her and promises that she will save him as she comes up with her own plan. She went after Bibabu on her own, but her attempt appears to fail when Bibabu turns her into a doll. However, this is revealed to only be a distraction to allow Sayo to use Luka's Mobilate and Ranger Key to transform into Gokai Yellow, retrieve the wand (which is later broken by Gai) and turn everyone back to normal. With the team gathered, and Luka given her Mobilate back, the Gokaigers transform into an all Yellow team, consisting of TigerRanger, KirinRanger, GaoYellow, HurricaneYellow, Bouken Yellow, and Gosei Yellow to fight Dyrandoh and Bibabu's Dogormin. After the all Yellow attack, the main team transform into the Battle Fever J team, and Gokai Silver manages to combine Gokai Red and Gokai Green's Ranger Keys to transform into Gokai Christmas, to take on Dyrandoh and Bibabu. They ultimately destroyed Bibabu, which led to Dyrandoh retreating. Insarn makes Bibabu and the two Dogormin grow to giant size, leading the Gokaigers to form GokaiOh and GoZyuRex to fight them. After using MagiDragon, GaoLion, and Fūraimaru against Bibabu, the group forms Kanzen GokaiOh to defeat Bibabu once and for all.

Later, the Gokai Galleon crew joins in the park's Christmas celebration with Luka using the powers of Magi Mother to make it snow. Unbeknownst to them, the Santa Claus from earlier was actually the former Battle Kenya, Shiro Akebono, and he states that the Gokaigers have been 'good kids' so they deserve a present. When the Gokaigers return to the Gokai Galleon after the Christmas party, Navi tells them that the Treanger Box suddenly started glowing. Opening it, they find that the Battle Fever keys are shining, having been granted their Greater Power. The Gokaigers are confused as they are unsure of how and when they earned it, when Luka guessed it was a present from Santa. Marvelous states that Santa is 'awesome', when Gai notices that it has started snowing in the city and the other Gokaigers rush to look through the window, ready to enjoy Christmas. The Gokaigers recap all of the Greater Powers they and Basco ta Jolokia have gathered, leaving only the Kakurangers'. Navi's prophecy implies that ninjas that can't be found won't be found. They recall the shrine that Domon had told them to protect, Megakure Shrine, and Joe deduces that it could be where the Kakuranger powers are. Once there, they discover that Ninjaman had been stuck for ten years in a jar, having been put there by his masters as a punishment for his overzealousness of defending a little girl (taking out an entire city block in the process). Gai informs him that his curse wasn't broken as the Kakurangers lost their powers and Ninjaman's masters were destroyed in the Great Legend War.

Captain Marvelous was simply ready to interrogate him about the powers, Ahim, Gai and Don insist they go about it without rubbing him the wrong way, by winning his approval first. Thus, the Gokaigers attempt to treat Ninjaman to snacks and a show (which ends horribly when Marvelous and Navi's act propels the robotic parrot into the food the crew prepared for Ninjaman, much to Joe's dismay). They later start telling him about the Ranger Keys, their Gokai Changes, their quest for the Greater Powers, and the battle against Zangyack, as well as the danger that Basco poses, having the ability to simply steal the powers.

Ninjaman, while empathetic to their plight, declines to simply hand over the Kakuranger's Greater Power; because his easygoing demeanor has put him in trouble more than once in the past, he has decided not to trust people so easily, so he decides he will live aboard the Gokai Galleon to observe if they are ready to have it. While Gai is ecstatic at the thought of being taken under the wing of a legend, the rest of the Gokaigers feel impatient.

Somewhere else in the city, Tsuruhime watches the Gokai Galleon sail across the air. She is impressed at how they found the hidden Ninjaman. She decides that she no longer needs to leave the Gokaigers to defeat the Zangyack on their own, and that it is up to Ninjaman whether they'll receive the Kakuranger powers, and swooshes away. After watching the Gokai Galleon crew for over a week, Ninjaman decides to train the pirates in the basics of being a Super Sentai team. With only Doc, Ahim, and Gai going through with it, Ninjaman deems only them worthy of the Kakurangers' greater power before sensing a strange presence. He and the others discover Action Commander Juju as he summons two Zugormin to fight them before Gokai Red, Gokai Blue, and Gokai Yellow arrive. After firing darts into Gokai Green and Gokai Silver, Juju is forced to retreat after failing to hit Gokai Red. Soon after, while having lunch, Doc and Gai suddenly start acting crazy and they go out to fight. Ahim follows them as Ninjaman follows in a huff after seeing Captain Marvelous and the others show no concern.

Ahim and Ninjaman find many other people acting crazy before finding Doc and Gai fighting each other before assuming their Gokaiger forms as they attempt to stop them. But in a gambit, Ahim ends up taking the two's blows as she manages to snap Gokai Green and Gokai Silver out of their madness. By that time, having Navi analyze his Gokai Saber for Juju's mind-altering dart, Gokai Red and the others find the Action Commander's base and they attempt to destroy the crystal ball he is using to control people. However, Juju swallows the crystal ball to ensure that his spell over the humans continues. Contacted by Navi, the others arrive to their shipmates' aid against Juju as they use the Sun Vulcan Keys to defeat some of the Gormin.

After apologizing for underestimating them, Ninjaman joins the Gokaigers as they use the Kakuranger Keys to fight Juju and the Gormin while Gokai Silver assumes Gold Mode to defeat the Zugormin. After being hit by the Gokai Galleon Buster, ensuring his spell is broken, Insarn enlarges Juju as GokaiOh and GoZyuJin are formed to fight him. However, Juju overpowers them before the Kakuranger Keys emerge as Ninjaman tells them to use his team's greater power: which turns out to be himself. Ninjaman battles Juju before Kanzen GokaiOh is formed to deliver the final blow. Later, after deciding to find the Three God Generals, Ninjaman summons his cloud to take his leave until the Gokaigers need him once more. Knowing that they need the five greater powers in his possession, the Gokai Galleon crew know that they must fight Basco to achieve their goal to get the Greatest Treasure in the Universe. After Marvelous kills Basco, the Gokaigers return to the Galleon with all 35 Greater Powers obtained. The other Gokaigers debate over using the powers when Marvelous approaches the bridge. He asks why they're all up so early, but the other Gokaigers are concerned with his injuries. Marvelous tells them that he won't rest when the Greatest Treasure in the Universe is at their fingertips.

He asks for their decision and Gai wonders if it's okay for them to just start using the Greater Powers of Sun Vulcan, Changeman, Flashman, Maskman and Fiveman since they were stolen by Basco. When the Gokaigers approach the table, the teams' Ranger Keys glow and transport the Gokaigers into a bright white room. There, Takayuki Hiba (VulEagle II), Shou Hayate (ChangeGriffon), Dai (Green Flash), Akira (Blue Mask), and Remi Hoshikawa (FiveYellow) appear to the Gokaigers and compliment them on their bonds and hard work, and Takayuki gives the approval to use their Greater Powers. He tells the other Gokaigers that they should use the Greatest Treasure to create a universe without the Zangyack.
